Frequently Asked Questions

Who can have a bike fit?

Whether you are a new rider, returning to riding after an injury or extended time off, or a competitive cyclist you will benefit from being correctly fit to your bike.  Have you ever bought a pair of shoes because they were asthetically pleasing but were just a bit too small or too big? You may have been able to make those shoes work but chances are you were uncomfortable, and you could only walk a short distance. Imagine purchasing a pair of shoes that fit and also looks good.  You can have both.

What if I don't have a bike but am ready to start riding?

Winstanleys Bike Shop has an extensive inventory that I can help you find the right size bike and components.

How long does it take?

There is 1 hour of medical assessments, and then 1 to 1.5 hours of time working with you on your bike, so 2 to 2.5 hours of time.

What do I wear?

You should wear your normal cycling clothes and shoes if you have them. You don't need a helmet, but are welcome to wear one if you feel safer.

Do you think I will have immediate relief?

Most people experience a shift in their performance and comfort the first ride after a fit. It is recommended to take 3-5 short rides for your muscle memory to adjust.

I have a big race coming up, can I get a fit the week of?

Your body will need a little time to change muscle memory so it is discouraged to get a bike fit bike right before a big event. Two weeks prior to a race is the latest  suggested time to allow your body and mind the necessary time to adjust to the changes.

Can you fix my actual bike?

I personally am not a trained mechanic. The benefit of partnering with a Winstantleys Bike Shop is that there are qualified mechanics onsite to help with any issues.
